Volleyball Trainer
The Volleyball Trainer is responsible for coaching volleyball classes and working with member’s age 9+ to teach volleyball skills and develop lesson plans for skill development.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES + RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop children’s fundamental movement and volleyball skills ( set, punt, spike) and early understanding of game play.
- Lead sport-specific drill and game components including set-up, clean-up and equipment management with fellow coaches.
- Develop children’s self-esteem and confidence by growing their capacity for and success in physical activity and in individual and team sport situations.
- Collaborate with the Sports & League Supervisor in creating curriculum and ensuring day-to-day implementation.
- Ensure the health, safety and welfare of class participants and work towards positive resolution if any issues are presented.
- “Plant the seeds” for a lifelong enjoyment of physical activity and sports participation.
- Interact with parents, caregivers, and team members in various SJJCC departments to create a strong sense of community.
- Participate in select non-sports activities & programming, including, but not limited to, opening and closing days and electives.
- May be asked to participate in Maccabi Games.
- Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2+ years’ experience working in a sports setting, travel sports league and volleyball knowledge.
- High School or GED Diploma.
- Experience working with members in a structured environment, preferably in sports or camp.
- Must have a basic understanding and proficiency in coaching volleyball.
- Must be energetic and upbeat, able to maintain a positive attitude throughout the day.
- Must be good role model, hard-working, promoting kind behavior, be encouraging and friendly, and exhibit good values.
- Excellent customer service skills, ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with parents, caregivers, team members, SJJCC members and members of the general public.
- Comfort with large group instruction; projecting voice in large space.
- CPR/AED/First Aid certification preferred but not required.
