Director of Camp Kehilla
The Director of Camp Kehilla is responsible for planning and administering all camp activities and operations. This position will assist with the growth and care of campers in a fun and nurturing environment.
Director Responsibilities:
- Partner with leadership to set strategic goals and objectives for programs
- Oversee the program’s overall performance and success
- Prepare and monitor department budgets
- Plan and execute all program initiatives and report on program outcomes
- Ensure program stays within compliance with agency and legal regulations
- Communicate objectives and outcomes with Senior Leadership and Board when necessary
- Conduct performance reviews and set performance goals for program and team members
- Recommend staffing requirements, recruit and train new team members
- Partner with Human Resources to coach, counsel and discipline team members
- Recommend promotions, transfers and terminations
- Enforce SJJCC policies and procedures
Position Responsibilities:
- Plan and administer tasks regarding camp including launching and tracking registration
- Planning trips, developing programming and activities, family outreach, acting as liaison between the Kehilla Center, Finance and Administrative team, etc.
- Direct and supervise day-to-day operation of Camp Kehilla
- Plan of day to day schedule
- Assist with assessments and enrollment of campers
- Plan and implement of all staff trainings
- Plan and implement open houses and camp clean-up day
- Create and participate in job fairs either in house or at local organizations and schools
- Work with other OPWDD departments during DOH audit and ACA accreditation
- Participate in CPR, first aid, epi pen, and SCIP trainings
- Additional duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- 2 years supervisory experience preferably working with children in a school or camp environment
- Bachelor’s degree
- Licensed Social Worker or Licensed Educator
- Experience working with children with special needs
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Understanding of OPWDD regulations a plus
- Communication skills including strong interpersonal skills with clients, staff and parents, as well as the ability to speak, read and write effectively.
- Exhibit patience, initiative, enthusiasm, resourcefulness and strong attention to detail.
- Able to effectively develop, document and implement behavior management protocols.
- Ability to provide leadership and motivation to staff and work effectively with diverse groups of people.
